Corten, a resistant material, which changes over time and regenerates

Corten steel is a fascinating and dynamic material known for its ability to transform over time. Due to the formation of an oxidative patina, it offers both aesthetic and practical benefits, making it a popular choice in architecture and design.

The surface of the Corten gradually takes on a warm hue, between orange and reddish, which evokes a rustic and natural atmosphere. This oxidation process, influenced by climatic conditions, usually stabilizes within 12-18 months, creating a dynamic visual effect that adapts perfectly to natural or industrial contexts, giving a distinctive character to any project.

The patina that forms on the surface is not only decorative, but works as a protective layer that prevents advanced corrosion of the underlying metal and if the patina is damaged, for example by scratches or bumps, the material is able to regenerate naturally, restoring its protection without the need for maintenance.

Compared to traditional steel, Corten offers 5 to 8 times greater corrosion resistance, making it particularly suitable for outdoor structures exposed to the natural elements.
